Glynn House Inn: Summer Theatre

New Hampshire’s Lakes Region comes alive with theatre each summer. Summer theatres include the Lake Winnipesaukee Theatre in Laconia; Interlakes Theatre in Meredith; Papermill Theatre in Lincoln; and the Barnstormer’s Theatre in Tamworth http://www.glynnhouse.com/area/id10.htm. Three of the theatres offer classic New England summer stock with professional performers. The other theatre offers audiences a schedule of delightful performances throughout the year.

The Barnstormers Theatre is located in the center of picturesque Tamworth Village. Built in the 1820s as a store, in 1936 the building was remodeled as a theatre.  Following renovation in 1998-1999, it became a year-round facility. With a 28-foot proscenium stage, the auditorium has 282 comfortable seats in the orchestra and balcony, air-conditioning, and superb acoustics.

Plays include old favorites and less well-known gems of the American and British stage, with a slant towards comedy, and contemporary and occasional new plays. There is usually one musical each summer and one more serious drama and mystery.  The Summer 2012 is guaranteed to delight visitors and residents alike. This summer’s calendar http://www.glynnhouse.com/calendar/ includes Big River, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; Painting Churches; Leading Ladies; Witness for the Prosecution; Our Town; It Had to Be You; The Foreigner; and The Hound of the Baskervilles.

Use the historic Glynn House Innsituated less than 35 minutes  from the Barnstormers Theatre - as your getaway entertainment base.
